The most common questions we get in the Heritage Room are about Athens’ textile mills: who worked there, what did they make, or “I think I live in an old mill house?” The textile industry dominated Athens-Clarke County and surrounding communities area for over a century, so no wonder folks come asking about their ancestors or recently purchased home.
